Loomis Union School District is pleased to announce the launch of Office 365 and Office 2016. After the migration has been completed you will be able to use a shorter email address (<username>@loomisk8.org), have almost unlimited email storage space, and have easier access via mobile devices and the web.
Migration Process
The migration process will occur during spring break with numerous accounts being processed throughout the day. Due to the fact that various accounts will migrate periodically throughout the day, we cannot guarantee when an individual's account will transition. In order to make the process as seamless as possible, please refer to the following information for accessing your emails:
Both websites (loomis-usd.k12.ca.us and loomisusd.org) will have links to both the old and new email servers. Please use the web access if you plan on checking emails during the break.
If you log into the usual email server and it gives the message, "The Outlook Web App address ... is out of date," then you will need to log into the new email server to access your emails.
When logging into the new server you will want to use your full email address with the @loomisk8.org domain and the same password you currently use for your computer.
If you previously received emails on your mobile device, you will need to remove the account and re-add it in order to continue receiving emails once your account has transitioned to the new server. We have created a tutorial for both Android and Apple phones here.
After the Migration
After the migration has completed, your account will be on Office 365. When you return to campus we ask that you continue to use the web interface to access emails until the second part of the transition completes: Office 2016.
Most users have Office 2010 installed on their computers which is known to have issues with Office 365. The Technology Services department will be begin deploying Office 2016 to computers first thing Monday, April 2nd, and continuing throughout the week.
Once Office 2016 has been installed on your computer, it will restart automatically to complete the process. The images below show you what the new icons will look like so you will know once Office 2016 is available. When Office 2016 has been installed, you may click through the account setup to finalize your email and have it available through Outlook. We have created a tutorial here which walks you through the steps.
After your account has been configured through Office 2016 you may use the Outlook application rather than the web access. *Please note that if you have stored emails in an external file (.pst) then it will need to be manually imported before it shows in Outlook.
