Google Certification Exam Preparation Begins Soon! 

What does it mean to be a Google Certified Educator?

Level 1 Certification is evidence of your ability to enhance teaching and learning with technology. It means that you have successfully :
  • Demonstrated your solid knowledge base about Google Apps
  • Modeled the integration of Google Apps into instructional practices
  • Collaborated with other educators to apply Google Apps to enhance teaching and learning

Is Google Certification right for you? 

If you can answer “yes” to the questions below, then certification is for you:
  • Do you have a basic understanding of Google Apps?
  • Do you have a basic understanding of meaningful technology integration into classroom instruction?
  • Do you want to learn more about how to maximize the use of Google Apps for personal learning, communication, team collaboration, and instruction?
  • Are you willing spend time outside of the preparation sessions to prepare for the exam?
  • Do you work in education in any capacity (teachers, principals, librarians, secretaries, etc.)?

Preparation: ​

To prepare for  the Level 1 exam, LUSD will offer three after school sessions to help you work through the Google Educator Fundamentals Course. The course includes a total of 13 units, so it is important to note that outside preparation time may be necessary depending upon your current knowledge of Google Apps. Details about each session are provided so that you can select preparation sessions that are right for you.  For each session you attend, you can earn one hour of Professional Development credit.

Session 1: Introduction into Google Certification
  • Learn about the certification process, explore the preparation materials and resources, decide if the certification is right for you, etc.
Session 2: Specific Exam Topics  
  • Learn more about lesser known Google Apps including Google Groups, YouTube, Google Calendar, and more!
Session 3: Personalized Preparation
  • Come to this session to finalize your preparation for the exam. Participants who attend this session will have time to explore specific topics, ask, questions, and work with others to review for the exam.
Level 1 Exam: 
To become certified, you must pass the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam. The Level 1 exam includes multiple choice questions, drag and drop, and performance-based scenarios. The exam is 120 minutes and has a $10 fee. (Please note that individuals will pay their own exam fees.)

Any LUSD employee who has attended at least one preparation session is welcome to take the Level 1 Google Certification Exam in the LUSD training center as a group. Google encourages group testing sessions to support collaboration and learning as a team.
